Agile, as a word, has gone through quite a journey. From novelty, to buzzword, to way of working to priority as the support from the organization continues to raise.
For most of the teams it seems to be quite an understood way of working (even way of thinking for some), but everyone has their own flavor and recipe.
A team asked for a product discovery workshop. After addressing few upfront questions, I realized very fast that their poor and unpredictable velocity is not caused by uncertainty on the product level; it was the foundation that was actually missing – the absence of trust on the team level (Lencioni’s 5 Dysfunctions of a team).
I keep seeing a lot of people around me that, with good intentions, mix self-organized and self-managed characteristics of an Agile Team.
How I see things?
I took the liberty to draft my proposal of a development plan for someone who is starting in this role and wants to have an overview in regards to his/her development.
I’m going to take a look at 6 different types of Scrum Masters and how shared or dedicated they are with their teams
Waterfall way of working doesn’t innovate for you. Lean-Agile way of working doesn’t innovate for you either. What Waterfall & Lean-Agile should do is enable the innovation. Set the right environment, give the space, drive the culture of innovation. And it’s not like Waterfall did not do that. It’s only that, nowadays, Lean-Agile does it better.
